Last fall, the CIF posted an article entitled “Understanding How Program Costs and Recovery Have Changed Over Time” authored by Dr. Calvin Lakhan of York University. The purpose of the article was to invite discussion on the limits of the research before drawing conclusions, and give thought to the issues being raised, as well as the need for further research and dialogue.
The CIF received two responses, shown below, along with the author’s supplemental response.
- Comment: Isabelle Faucher, Carton Council Canada
- Comment: Neil Menezes, Reclay StewardEdge
- Response to Comments: Dr. Calvin Lakhan, York University
The discussion brings home the reality of how difficult it can be to accurately ascribe system costs to specific packaging and material shifts. We hope that you find the comments interesting and informative.
